Prophet Muhammad’s teachings offer guidance for a world in crisis: PM

Prime Minister Dr. Harini Amarasuriya has emphasised that the teachings of the Holy Prophet Muhammad provide important guidance for humanity in confronting the conflicts, divisions, and humanitarian challenges facing the world today.

In her message marking Milad-un-Nabi, the Prime Minister highlighted the Prophet’s teachings on peace, equality, compassion, justice, and mutual respect, saying these values continue to hold profound relevance in contemporary society.

She identified the Prophet’s unwavering commitment to justice, religious coexistence, and the well-being of all people as among the most significant lessons that society can draw from his life.

At a time when armed conflicts continue to claim innocent lives and cause widespread suffering, Dr. Amarasuriya said the message of the Prophet Muhammad serves as a powerful reminder of the need to place humanity, compassion, and peaceful coexistence at the centre of social relations.

The Prime Minister stressed that these principles are particularly important for Sri Lanka, where people of different ethnicities and religions live together. She called for greater empathy, mutual respect, and unity in strengthening the country's social fabric.

She also expressed her hope for an end to war and violence and prayed that those affected by conflict, displacement, and humanitarian crises would soon find peace, security, and hope for the future.

Dr. Amarasuriya noted that this year's National Milad-un-Nabi celebration at Al Hilal National School in Periyamulla, Negombo, offers an opportunity to reflect on these teachings and promote religious coexistence, unity, and harmony.

She expressed her appreciation to the Department of Muslim Religious and Cultural Affairs and the organising committee for their efforts in organising the national celebration.

The Prime Minister also extended her greetings to Muslims in Sri Lanka and around the world, wishing them a peaceful, prosperous, harmonious, and joyous Milad-un-Nabi.
