
COLOMBO – Indian External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar met with President Anura Kumara Dissanayake this morning at the Presidential Secretariat, marking a significant step in post-cyclone diplomatic relations between the two neighbors.
Bilateral Discussions Commence According to the Presidential Media Division (PMD), the two leaders have officially commenced bilateral discussions. Dr. Jaishankar, acting as the special envoy of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, arrived in Colombo on Sunday evening via a special Indian Air Force flight.
Focus on Recovery and Solidarity The central theme of the visit remains India’s commitment to Sri Lanka’s recovery following the devastation caused by Cyclone Ditwah. The Indian government has positioned this visit as a strong signal of solidarity, ensuring that Sri Lanka has the necessary support for reconstruction and humanitarian aid.
High-Level Engagements In addition to his meeting with the President, Dr. Jaishankar is expected to interact with other top government officials to discuss regional security, economic stability, and ongoing cooperative projects.
