
COLOMBO – The Department of Meteorology has issued its daily forecast for Tuesday, December 23, predicting a mix of light rain, evening thundershowers, and misty conditions across several parts of the island.
Regional Rainfall According to the official statement, residents in the Uva and Eastern provinces, along with those in the Matale, Nuwara Eliya, Polonnaruwa, and Hambantota districts, should expect light showers throughout the day.
For the Southwestern parts of the country, the weather is expected to take a turn in the afternoon. Showers or thundershowers are likely to develop in a few locations within the Ratnapura, Galle, Matara, and Kalutara districts after 2:00 PM.
Misty Conditions The Department also warned of reduced visibility during the early morning hours. Misty conditions are expected in parts of the Sabaragamuwa and Central provinces. Similar weather is predicted for the Colombo, Kalutara, Badulla, Galle, and Matara districts, potentially affecting early morning commutes.
Dry Weather Elsewhere For the rest of the island, mainly fair and dry weather is expected to prevail. Citizens are advised to take necessary precautions during thundershowers to protect themselves from lightning and temporary strong winds. (NewsCenter)
