(Colombo- Sri Lanka) A man who planned to assassinate notorious underworld leader 'Harak Kata', also known as Nadun Chinthaka, was arrested today (02) in Maharagama. Harak Kata is currently being held in remand custody.
According to the police, the suspect disguised himself as a journalist to carry out the assassination. A burnt video camera and a firearm were recovered from his possession at the time of the arrest. It was later revealed that the individual is an employee of the Land Reclamation and Development Board.
Nadun Chinthaka, widely known by his alias "Harak Kata," is one of Sri Lanka's most wanted and feared underworld figures. He has been sought by law enforcement for his alleged involvement in numerous crimes, including murder and large-scale drug trafficking. His criminal activities have often been linked to a rival underworld figure known as "Podi Lassi," leading to violent gang clashes.
After a long manhunt, Harak Kata was arrested in Dubai in late 2022 and was later extradited back to Sri Lanka to face charges. His detention has been a significant development in the country's fight against organized crime. (NewsCenter)
