Popular rapper Madhava Prasad, also known as "Madhuwa," has been arrested with a fake pistol and drugs. The Kahathuduwa Police said that they have taken 20 milligrams of 'Ice' (crystal methamphetamine) and 35 grams of hashish into police custody from his possession.
The raid was conducted after a video was circulated on Facebook showing a group of six people behaving erratically while consuming drugs, with a small glass coffee table and a pistol placed nearby.
After focusing on the video, Kahathuduwa Police identified the 26-year-old rapper among the suspects in the video.
Police stated that the suspect was arrested at his residence in the Mount Clifford housing complex in Homagama.
During questioning, the suspect revealed that he made the video to increase his number of followers, police said.
The suspect is to be presented before the Kesbewa Magistrate's Court.
